Reedsburg Area Senior Life Center is looking for a Nurse Intern to join their team!

Schedule:

• 16 hours per week
• 2P-10P
• Every other Holiday/weekend
  

Position Summary:

Position Summary:

The Nurse Intern (NI) is a nursing student who is currently enrolled in a nursing program leading to a Registered Nurse, or who has failed the licensure exam and is awaiting a re-take of the exam and will then be identified as a Nurse Technician.

The Nurse Intern always functions under the DIRECT and PRESENT supervision of the RN.

Under s. N6.02 (6), Wisconsin Administrative Code, direct supervision means immediate availability to continually coordinate, direct and inspect at first hand the practice of another. This has been interpreted by the Board to require that the supervising RN must be in the same facility as the nurse intern.

Under s. N6.03 (3), Wisconsin Administrative Code, the supervising RN may delegate acts within the scope of professional nursing to the nurse intern, provided the RN does the following:

• • • • Delegates tasks commensurate with educational preparation and demonstrated abilities of the nurse intern;
      • Provides direction and assistance to the nurse intern;
      • Observes and monitors the activities of the nurse intern; and,
      • Evaluates the effectiveness of acts performed by the nurse intern.

The Nurse Intern/Nurse Technician is not licensed to practice nursing either as a Registered Nurse or LPN (unless also licensed as such). The nurse intern performs tasks delegated to him or her by the RN under direct supervision as defined in the Wisconsin Administrative Code. While task or procedures may be delegated to the nurse intern the functions of assessment and evaluation may not, including the preparation or alteration of a plan of care. The nurse intern may assist the RN in these functions, but may not perform them in their entirety.

Education and Training Required:

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Active certification as a nursing assistant (CNA) preferred.
• The student nurse will be in their second (2nd) semester of a two-year Associate Degree of Nursing (ADN) program or in the third (3rd) year of a four-year Bachelors Degree of Nursing (BSN) program.
• Completion of Clinical Pharmacology as required by their current nursing program.
• Completion of basic clinical skills as required by their current nursing program.
• Graduate nurses who receive notification of failure of State Boards shall practice under the position description (NT).
• BLS Certification required
