Market Sector Directors (MSD) drive our business within HDR's matrix management structure. The Highway & Roads (H&R) sector is the largest, representing nearly $1B annually globally. It includes clients owning highways, toll roads, city, town, local roads, and bridge structures. HDR provides services like bridge and highway design, traffic engineering, transportation planning, and tolling services.
This role requires understanding of H&R clients, funding, revenue streams, and governmental structures at various levels. Responsibilities include:
MSDs set vision, support growth initiatives, and develop staff to meet financial goals. They coordinate strategies with leadership, client managers, and practice groups, maintaining communication with the Transportation Business Group (TBG) Strategy Director. The role involves expanding HDR's client relationships domestically and internationally, engaging with local clients, and offering comprehensive services.
Key duties include supporting business development, client management, defining growth initiatives, coordinating best practices, and enhancing HDR's marketplace presence. Specific tasks involve overseeing strategic vision, serving as a client manager, leading projects, promoting HDR services, participating in industry associations, and developing strategic partnerships.
Staff development entails managing P&L, driving technical excellence, recruiting, and participating in performance reviews. Support to operations involves monitoring performance indicators, resource management, contract reviews, promoting quality assurance, and sharing lessons learned.
